Scarce Saudi Guineas It is no secret that the Middle East collectors love European gold and silver coins and British Sovereigns as well as other coins that have been circulating in this area for generations. In the 1950’s due to a shortage of British Sovereigns, the Saudi Government struck a ‘Trade Guinea’ which was exactly the same weight and composition as a British Sovereign. These coins were to circulate with the Sovereigns throughout the Middle East. We have found a small group of these coins which we are delighted to offer. They are in high grade too, 22ct gold and weight 7.98 grams measuring approx 22 mm in diameter. |
